The Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development project in Cape Verde aims to increase diversity and resilience in tourism offerings and the participation of SMEs in tourism-related value chains in specific destinations.

The Republic of Cape Verde has negotiated a financial package with the World Bank Group in the amount of US$35 million, of which US$30 million is a loan from the International Development Association (IDA)/World Bank and US$5 million is a grant from PROBLUE MDTF. This total amount is intended to finance the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project in Cape Verde.

This project will support the Cape Verdean government's goal of promoting sustainable tourism and the conservation of natural resources for the benefit of local communities through a series of integrated and intersectoral interventions. The project will be implemented over the next five years.

It also aims to improve the diversity of offerings in the tourism sector, enable greater participation by local communities in tourism-related value chains, and support the SME sector and women-led businesses to provide sustainable services for tourism. 
Expected results include longer stays, increased tourist spending, increased domestic benefits from tourism, and increased visitor satisfaction with the quality and diversity of products offered.
