The Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development project in Cabo Verde aims to increase diversity and resilience in the tourism offer and the participation of SMEs in tourism-related value chains in specific destinations.

Description

The Republic of Cabo Verde has negotiated a financial package with the World Bank Group in the amount of US$35 (thirty-five) million, of which US$30 (thirty) million is an IDA/World Bank International Development Association credit and US$5 (five) million is a grant from PROBLUE MDTF. This total amount is intended to finance the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project in Cabo Verde. This project will support the goal of the government of Cabo Verde to promote sustainable tourism and the conservation of natural resources for the benefit of local communities through a series of integrated, cross-sectoral interventions. The project will be implemented over the next five years. It also aims to improve the diversity of tourism sector offerings, enable greater participation of local communities in tourism-related value chains, and support the SME sector and women-led businesses to provide sustainable services for tourism. The expected results include longer stays, increased tourist spending, increased domestic benefits from tourism, and increased visitor satisfaction with the quality and diversity of the products offered.
