On Monday morning, March 31, the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Cape Verde, Rodrigo Garcia-Verdú, visited the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE), where he was welcomed by the Coordinator, Nuno Gomes.
After touring the facilities, the representative had the opportunity to find out about the UGPE’s work and the main initiatives underway within the scope of projects financed by international organizations.
After learning about the work carried out, Garcia-Verdú was pleased with the initiatives implemented by the UGPE and highlighted the importance of its work in managing resources efficiently and strengthening partnerships with international financial institutions.
During the meeting, the challenges faced in implementing the projects were discussed, as well as opportunities to strengthen collaboration between Cape Verde and the international financial institutions. The IMF Resident Representative’s visit reinforces the importance of the partnership between the government and international organizations for the country’s sustainable development.

It is worth noting that this is the first time that the IMF has appointed a resident representative for Cape Verde, as announced by the Ministry of Finance. “This appointment represents a vote of confidence in the Cape Verdean economy and recognizes the country’s progress in economic and financial management.”
With the permanent presence of an IMF representative, closer and more effective collaboration is expected, promoting continuous dialogue on economic policies and development programs.
