Opening Ceremony of Field Agents Training marks start of e-waste survey in Cape Verde
07 abril, 2025On Monday, April 7, training began for the field agents who will take part in the Survey on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (IREEE), promoted by the National Statistics Institute (#INE), in partnership with the National Water and Sanitation Agency (#ANAS) and the Special Projects Management Unit (#UGPE).
The training, which runs from April 7 to 11, aims to train agents in the concepts, definitions, methodologies and procedures associated with this type of statistical operation, ensuring quality data collection in line with good international practices.
During the opening ceremony, the importance of this initiative for strengthening the national statistical base in the environmental field was highlighted. The data collected will provide a better understanding of the population’s consumption and disposal habits, contributing to the formulation of effective and sustainable public policies for the management of electronic waste in Cape Verde.
The survey, to be carried out between April 14 and 27, aims to estimate the quantities of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) in households – such as light bulbs, cell phones, computers, televisions and fans – as well as the respective waste generated.
