Mission to Support the Implementation of the Cabo Verde Digital Project
28 abril, 2026The Mission to Support the Implementation of the Cabo Verde Digital Project began this Monday, April 27, 2026, with an institutional coordination meeting with the National Director of Planning, Gilson de Pina. The meeting marked an important moment of strategic alignment between the Government of Cabo Verde, the World Bank, and the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE).
The initial meeting allowed for the harmonization of the mission’s objectives with national priorities, ensuring that the actions to be undertaken are properly aligned with the Government’s strategic guidelines, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, the modernization of public services, and the consolidation of additional financing for the Cabo Verde Digital Project.
During the meeting, the National Director of Planning highlighted the importance of this preliminary consultation, emphasizing that institutional alignment with national authorities is essential to ensure a more effective mission, focused on concrete results and capable of addressing the main implementation challenges.
Camila Mejia Giraldo, Senior Digital Development Specialist at the World Bank and head of the mission, outlined the main topics to be addressed during the mission, highlighting the review of the project’s progress, follow-up on previous recommendations, critical aspects related to accelerating implementation, and progress regarding additional financing.
The mission, organized by the World Bank in collaboration with the National Planning Directorate and the UGPE, will take place from April 27 to 30, 2026, and aims to assess the implementation status of the Cape Verde Digital Project, identify solutions to key constraints, validate planned priority activities, and strengthen coordination among the institutions involved.
As part of the mission, progress made in preparing and executing the activities under the additional financing will also be analyzed, including the measures needed to accelerate implementation, improve inter-institutional coordination, and ensure greater alignment with national priorities.
The UGPE reaffirms its commitment to ensuring coordinated, transparent, and results-oriented implementation, in close collaboration with the World Bank, the National Planning Directorate, the beneficiary entities, and the other institutional partners involved in the Cabo Verde Digital Project.
