Minister José Carlos Varela Highlights the Importance of Coordination to Advance the Public Health Security Bill
04 setembro, 2026The Minister of Coordination of Special Projects and Access to Funds, José Carlos Varela, met with the World Bank mission and the national team of the Central Africa Health Security Project, reaffirming his willingness to closely monitor the project’s implementation and support the coordination necessary for its progress.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that the creation of the new Ministry presents an opportunity to strengthen project coordination and facilitate the resolution of issues that require coordination among different entities. He also stressed that coordination mechanisms and committees are being established to improve institutional communication, streamline processes, and ensure greater responsiveness.
The meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of ongoing and planned activities, following the work carried out throughout the week with the Ministry of Health and other involved entities, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Issues requiring higher-level decisions to allow certain activities to move forward were also identified.
World Bank Representative Indira Campos shared the institution’s main concerns and emphasized the importance of joint action in seeking solutions and ensuring the project’s continuity.
The CCIP, the World Bank, and the National Planning Directorate (DNP) presented the coordination efforts carried out with the beneficiary entities, providing the Minister with a comprehensive overview of the project’s progress and the next steps.
Finally, José Carlos Varela reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to closely monitor the process and support the various entities whenever necessary, with a view to ensuring that activities move forward and concrete results are achieved.
