Briefing with the National Planning Department Marks the Start of the World Bank’s Human Capital Support Mission
25 março, 2026The World Bank team met with the National Director of Planning, Gilson Pina, for a briefing that marked the start of the mission to support the implementation of the Human Capital Project (HCP), which runs from March 23 to 27, 2026. The main objective of the meeting was to align priorities, clarify goals, and prepare the technical work to be carried out throughout the week.
During the briefing, the main objectives of the mission were presented, with an emphasis on monitoring the project’s progress, defining concrete actions to accelerate its implementation, and reviewing fiduciary aspects. The need to establish a clear plan to move forward more swiftly with Component 6 activities was also emphasized.
In his remarks, Gilson Pina highlighted the importance of an in-depth analysis of certain specific aspects of the project, noting that the mission provides an opportunity to assess overall performance, identify constraints, and define improvement measures, with a view to strengthening the effectiveness of interventions.
The National Director of Planning also took the opportunity to thank the World Bank for its continued support, recognizing it as an outstanding partner in the implementation of human capital policies in Cape Verde. He also emphasized that the Government places human capital at the center of its actions, aligning it with the priorities of the government’s program and with ongoing public policies.
For its part, the World Bank team reaffirmed its commitment to continue working closely with national authorities, emphasizing that institutional cooperation is essential to achieving more effective and sustainable results.
It should be noted that the UGPE was represented by its Coordinator, Nuno Gomes, and the Human Capital Project Manager, Clarisse Silva.
