World Bank Introduces the New Task Team Leader (TTL) for the Resilient Tourism Project at a Meeting with UGPE

On Tuesday, July 7, the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) hosted a World Bank delegation for a working meeting that marked the official introduction of the new Task Team Leader (TTL) for the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project.

The meeting aimed to ensure a smooth transition in the technical leadership of the World Bank team and featured the official introduction of Amy Chamberlain, who will now oversee the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project.

The meeting was also attended by António Baptista, who oversaw the project over the past year and served as the previous TTL. The group reviewed the status of the project’s various activities, the main challenges, and priorities for the coming months, and discussed priority actions to strengthen coordination and accelerate the project’s implementation.

In her remarks, Amy highlighted the importance of this initial meeting with the UGPE team to understand the Unit’s operational dynamics and gain a deeper understanding of the projects currently underway. She emphasized that this process will facilitate coordination with partner institutions and allow for the continuation of the work already underway, expressing her willingness and enthusiasm to take on her new responsibilities.

Representing UGPE were the Coordinator, Nuno Gomes; the Manager of the Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development Project, Vladimir Fonseca; civil engineers Carlos Pinheiro and Sarah Fortes; the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Lisandro Mendonça; and the Procurement Officer, Madelene David.
