On Monday, June 28, the Government of Cape Verde held the official public presentation of the Cape Verde National Hospital Project, a strategic infrastructure that marks a milestone in the transformation of the country’s healthcare system.

The future hospital will be a specialized and nationally renowned facility, designed with a modern profile, equipped with advanced technological equipment, and designed to provide differentiated healthcare with high standards of quality, accessibility, and efficiency.

Its creation aims to establish a new model for the organization of healthcare, strengthening the coordination between the different levels of the National Health System. The National Hospital will act as a central clinical support structure for central and regional hospitals, contributing to a significant reduction in medical evacuations abroad and promoting increased accessibility to treatment within the country itself.

Equipped to treat highly complex pathologies, currently treated outside the country, the National Hospital will offer advanced medical and surgical specialties (including cardiovascular and oncology in the first phase), as well as a patient-centered approach, in line with international best practices.

 

The project will be implemented in phases, allowing for an organized and sustainable transition, ensuring progressive integration with other health services, and optimizing available resources.

 

With this initiative, the Government reaffirms its commitment to modernizing the health sector, strengthening national response capacity, and continuously improving the quality of life of Cape Verdeans.
