34 families from Santiago Norte will benefit from training in basic cooking techniques

Training in basic cooking techniques started this Wednesday, November 24, in Assomada, which will benefit 34 families from Santiago Norte, the municipalities of Santa Catarina, São Salvador do Mundo, Calheta de São Miguel and Santa Cruz, within the scope of the Productive Inclusion project that aims to give financial autonomy to families benefiting from the RSI.
The opening ceremony that took place this morning was presided over by the Minister of Family, Inclusion and Social Development, Fernando Elísio Freire, who stated that this is a structuring project and very important for the Government's objective, which is to eliminate extreme poverty and reduce absolute poverty, considering a program of productive inclusion, which includes people through economic activities allowing them to have access to the profession, giving income so that they can live in a dignified way and have the ability to lead a normal life.
“These productive inclusion projects at this stage cover around 2,000 (two thousand) families living in extreme poverty in nine municipalities in the country, namely, Porto Novo, Ribeira Grande de Santo Antão, São Vicente, São Filipe, Praia, São Salvador do Mundo, Santa Catarina, Calheta de São Miguel and Santa Cruz. However, we have ambitions which from 2022 we will expand to 22 municipalities in the country, reaching 4,500 (four thousand and five hundred) families benefiting from the RSI, with the prospect of reaching 5 (five thousand) families” assures Fernando Elísio Freire.
It should be noted that the ceremony was also attended by the Coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit, the Mayor of Santa Catarina and São Lourenço dos Órgãos, Representative of the World Bank and the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion.
