The Minister of Coordination of Special Projects and Access to Funds, José Carlos Varela, met with the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) to monitor the strategic projects under the institution’s management and strengthen institutional coordination for their implementation.

During the meeting, the UGPE Coordinator presented the institution’s responsibilities and provided an update on the 10 projects currently underway, highlighting the objectives of each initiative, the different implementation phases, the status of execution, and the respective financing arrangements.

On that occasion, the main challenges hindering the implementation of the projects were also identified, notably certain outstanding issues of an institutional and administrative nature.

Minister José Carlos Varela reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring coordination and collaboration between the UGPE and the various ministries and public institutions, promoting a concerted effort that will help overcome constraints and drive the implementation of strategic projects for Cape Verde’s development.

Also participating in the meeting were the UGPE’s Financial Director, José Andrade, and the Director of the Office of the Minister for Coordination of Special Projects and Access to Funds, Edson Moniz.
